Richmond – Waterloo – return
actual return Waterloo – Mortlake
Lovely warm sunny day, and tickets to the Udderbelly festival on the South Bank means another SouthWest trains journey.
The outward journey from Richmond to Waterloo at lunchtime was utterly uneventful. The purpose of the trip was to learn how to “beatbox” with Shlomo, of course I took my young nieces as an excuse. It’s a really worthwhile show and you should go if you get the chance, especially when it’s followed by frozen yoghurt, as this was.
Coming back was supposed to be just as simple but there was a train failure at Richmond which backed up everybody along the line. Usually because assistance has been booked, if you’re a wheelchair passenger you just need to grin and bear it. However, as the temperature on the train rose, my grin slipped and my ability to bear it melted away. Fortunately, we were stopped at Mortlake which is accessible. And so after making sure that we really were aware of how long the walk was, the guard kindly fetched the ramp and let us escape. I don’t know how long they were stuck there, and I choose not to find out.
