The Big Red Umbrella with Wheels

Richmond – Return

I was lazy again today and took a short bus trip. In fact truth be told it wasn’t laziness it was self preservation. It was raining and I’ve said before just how wet you get when you’re in a wheelchair, so I decided that discretion is the better part of staying dry and hopped on the bus.

There’s really not much to say about the journey in either direction except that coming back the bus was so hot and steamy that the windows were completely obscured. It was like being some camera shy celebrity, or a notorious criminal being taken to court.

The only incident of interest was a woman who tried to get back on the bus after we’d pulled into traffic. We were at the traffic light so the driver wouldn’t open the door. Her response was to run to the next bus stop. Rush hour traffic meant that she was there when we arrived. As soon as a driver opened the door she stepped on board and it became clear that she’d left behind her umbrella. I have to say if it was me I would have simply left the umbrella.

I’m guessing a lot of umbrellas got left on an awful lot of buses and trains today.
